Choose-to-fix-bad-financial-habits-and-start-living-debt-free Habits That Lead to Poor Financial Decisions

There are great financial choices you can make for your life, and then there are some really terrible ones. Some people seem to make the best financial decisions every single day, while others always seem to make the wrong choice, no matter what the parameters might be. How can you be one of those individuals who always make the right choice? Take a closer look at a few habits you may have that tend to lead to poor decision-making.

Traits of Poor Financial Decision Makers

1. You Don’t Anticipate the Unexpected: If you take the time to consider what might go wrong, research says you’re better at anticipating potential problems. Many, though, simply assume the worst isn’t going to happen, and that leads to poor decisions.

2. You’re Lazy: If you’re not taking the initiative to do more, check your facts, or get the input you need, you might make really poor decisions. The tendency here is to rely on past experiences and the results you expect instead of handling the research that will help keep the ball in your court.

3. You’re Stuck in the Past: What worked last year probably won’t work this year, but if you’re using that kind of thinking to guide your ideas now, you may not realize the level of trouble it can cause in your life. Those base assumptions mean you don’t really know how to move forward with your life.

4. You Can’t Make Up Your Mind: Constantly researching your options is just as bad as not researching them at all, particularly if it means missed opportunities when it comes to financial decisions. Look at the data available, then move forward, and you will make better decisions.

5. You’re Overly Dependent: Waiting on someone else to make the decision for you or give you the input you need can also lead to poor decision-making. You have to act on your own when it becomes necessary.

6. You Have No Strategy: Just guessing at what might be the right choice is never a good idea. You need a strategy that will help you move forward so the right solution appears to you instantly.

7. You Don’t Have a Clue: If you don’t really understand the options and you need the knowledge and expertise of others, yet still don’t get it, you may have a serious problem making the decisions that will affect your finances.

8. You’re Completely Alone: Not having some input, analysis, and research on your side means not having a network to turn to when a decision must be made, and that, too, can spell trouble.

9. You Won’t Communicate: Making a good financial decision means telling other people so you can avoid bad decisions in the future. Let others know what you decided and why so your decision gets implemented.

Making the right financial choice for yourself is key when it comes to your money, and changing habits like these can help you do just that. If you have any of these habits, consider fixing them and start living debt free!
